Traffic / Transportation
- Whipple Consulting Engineers has considerable experience with all manner of transportation reports, designs and operational analysis. From small traffic distribution reports to designs of interstate interchanges, from pavement designs to roadway construction inspection, WCE is the Inland Northwest leader in the field of transportation. We have the expertise to follow the transportation elements of a project through the identification of needs, conceptual design, final design, construction inspection and agency approval. All of our transportation engineers have a municipal background and have proven capabilities in a wide range of transportation-related fields. This experience provides for a better understanding of the policies and design criteria required.
- TRAFFIC IMPACT ANALYSIS & CORRIDOR STUDIES - Whipple Consulting Engineers has successfully completed more than 1000 Traffic Impact Studies (TIA’s) during the past few years. WCE has performed the majority of Traffic Impact Studies within the greater Spokane, Washington and northern Idaho area. WCE has the expertise to perform TIA’s varying in size from large commercial centers (1,000,000 sq. ft.), residential subdivisions (100 to 1,600 lots), multi-family developments (50 to 750 units), Annexations (1200 ac) to mini marts and espresso stands. WCE regularly performs corridor level studies which have resulted in improvements to various corridors which were appropriate for the traffic volumes and characteristics anticipated. Whether your needs are for a trip generation letter, a trip distribution letter, a threshold study, a corridor study or a full traffic impact analysis, Whipple Consulting Engineers has the expertise and personnel to meet your needs.
- TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING DESIGN - Whipple Consulting Engineers has successfully completed projects in all areas of transportation design for both municipal and private clients. Pavement and roadway design are part of the everyday work completed at WCE. Traffic signals and auxiliary lanes, such as right and left turn lanes are regularly designed, approved and constructed on City, County and WSDOT facilities.
- TRANSPORTATION PLANNING - Whipple Consulting Engineers has significant experience in the development of land use policies and design guidelines thus providing a comprehensive approach to land use and transportation planning. During the last few years, WCE has performed many transportation planning projects in northern Idaho and eastern Washington in conjunction with municipal, residential and commercial development project. Over 1000 traffic studies varying in size fro 30 to 2,000 PM peak hour trips have often provided transportation analysis in areas of municipalities where little if any work has been performed. This analysis work has often validated assumptions and existing municipal plans. In other cases they have resulted in revealing system inadequacies allowing municipalities to make necessary changes. In some instances, work performed by WCE has been directly incorporated into the municipalities planning and design structure for planning and funding future work. As part of this planning effort, implementation of Geographic Information Systems and conversion of digital map data are also included in our "Kaleidoscope of Experience".
